John Edward Ellis is a writer of multiform nonfiction. His work has been featured in Relief Journal, Able Muse Review, Embodied Effigies Magazine, Ginosko Literary Journal, the Journal of Veterans Studies, Jonah Magazine, and others. His memoir, Memory of a Coming Kingdom, about teaching underprivileged youth in San Francisco and traversing the Mojave Desert, is forthcoming.

Ellis is the recipient of a grant from the Fulbright Program and a fellowship from Saint Mary’s College of California, where he earned an M.F.A. He has been a speaker for the San Francisco Weekday Wanderlust Travel Writers’ Reading Series and a panelist for numerous conferences in Composition Studies. He is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Veterans Studies, the only scholarly journal dedicated to the study of military veterans.
